Algonquin to Adirondacks Conservation Association (A2A)

An association of landowners, interested citizens, and resource management professionals from eastern Ontario and New York state. The goal of the Association is to support, promote, and initiate action to sustain a functional habitat of connected natural areas between the Algonquin and Adirondacks Parks. The organization intends to work with landowners to protect and enhance wildlife habitat on private lands. For more information, please visit www.a2alink.org on the web.

Cataraqui Conservation Foundation

Cataraqui Region Lakes Network

An informal association of lake associations within the Cataraqui Region. The purpose of the network is to exchange ideas, share knowledge and achieve conservation goals through working together. For example, in 2000, a special water quality sampling program was set up with the Ministry of Environment. Technical support is provided by the CRCA and Stewardship Councils. Cataraqui Trail

The Cataraqui Trail is a 104-km multi-use trail located along the former CN rail line which stretches from Smiths Falls to Strathcona. The Trail is owned by the CRCA and operated and maintained by the Cataraqui Trail Management Board, which includes trail users and representatives from the local municipalities. Friends of Lemoine Point

A membership-based organization that lends a helping hand at Lemoine Point Conservation Area in Kingston. Current projects include conducting user surveys, removal of garlic mustard and a red oak forest planting.

Friends of Mac Johnson Wildlife Area

A membership-based organization that lends a helping hand at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville. Past and present projects include trail improvements, installation of benches and a firepit, running public programs and helping to promote the Wildlife Area. The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve

Located at Reynolds Road and the 1000 Islands Parkway, The Biosphere Network is operated by a coalition of environmental agencies and community groups. For more information, visit their website at www.fabr.ca or call (613) 659-4824.

Kingston Wetlands Working Group

Ten agencies and community groups have come together to form this organization with a mission to protect and restore the wetland ecosystems in the Kingston area. This is being done through a variety of public education, cooperative action and stewardship projects. The KWWG has been involved in many projects including preparing a management plan for the Butternut Creek Swamp Forest, hosting a wetlands awareness day, erecting an osprey platform, placing nesting boxes, and planting buffers adjacent to creek and wetland areas with the assistance of volunteers.
