CRCA issues Sydenham Lake water level bulletin

Kingston - The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) will draw down the water level of Sydenham Lake starting Monday, September 14.

"This is something we do every year at this time," explains CRCA Watershed Management Coordinator Mara Shaw. "The CRCA staff lower the lake level to create capacity for snowmelt in the spring to minimize spring flooding. We draw down the Lake in the fall to try to have stable water levels before the ice starts to form."

Waterfront residents should allow some slack in boat mooring lines to compensate for the falling water level.

The CRCA will end the drawdown when the lake reaches normal winter levels, about one foot below normal summer levels.

Questions should be directed to Ms. Shaw at (613) 546-4228 ext. 228.
