Loyalist Township - The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) will host a public meeting in Amherstview on Dec. 9 to solicit public comments on planning concepts for a master plan for Parrott's Bay Conservation Area.
"Two different concepts will be presented for discussion," says CRCA Lands Planner Jason Hynes. "Users of the conservation area and area residents are welcome to come and share their thoughts on the future of the Parrott's Bay Conservation Area."
The meeting runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Peter's Anglican Church lower basement hall at 4333 Bath Road, just east of Coronation Blvd. There will be a short presentation by CRCA staff at 6:30 p.m.
One, or possibly parts of both concepts will be refined to reflect public input leading to a draft master plan that guides development and management of the property for the next 20 years.
The CRCA started assembling land in the late 1980s. In 2006 the last parcel was acquired. Now a master plan is needed.
Parrott's Bay Conservation Area occupies 100 hectares of land with spectacular waterfront vistas. It fronts on Highway 33; its northern boundary is Taylor Kidd Boulevard.
Further, Parrott's Bay anchors the western end of a green corridor linking Bayview Wetland and Lemoine Point Conservation Area. This is important for species movement and migration of waterfowl.
For those who cannot attend the meeting, an information package and questionnaire will be available on the CRCA website at www.cataraquiregion.on.ca.
