Loyalist Township - The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) is hosting a public meeting in Amherstview on May 12 to present a draft master plan for the Parrott's Bay Conservation Area.
"This open house follows up on a simlar meeting held last December," says CRCA Lands Planner Jason Hynes. "This open house will allow a final review of the master plan before it is adopted by the Conservation Authority's board of directors."
The meeting runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Peter's Anglican Church lower basement hall at 4333 Bath Road, just east of Coronation Blvd.
"This draft master plan seeks to improve the usability of the property and to make it easier and more enjoyable for people to explore this special place," says Mr. Hynes.
A master plan's purpose is to guide the development and management of a property for 20 years. For anyone interested, there also will be a chance to express interest in forming a Friends of Parrott's Bay Conservation Area group.
The CRCA started assembling land for this conservation area in the late 1980s. In 2006 the last parcel was acquired. Now a master plan is needed.
Parrott's Bay Conservation Area occupies 100 hectares of land with spectacular waterfront vistas. It fronts on HIghway 33; its northern boundary is Taylor-Kidd Boulevard.
The draft master plan will be available on the CRCA website at www.cataraquiregion.on.ca.
