CRCA Issues High Water Safety Bulletin

Kingston - The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority is issuing a High Water Safety Bulletin for its jurisdiction. Water levels are already high in many area creeks and lakes. Rainfall today will increase water levels both directly and via snowmelt. Snow, most prevalent in areas north and east of the City of Kingston, will continue to melt through the weekend, further increasing water levels.

Water levels will continue to rise on some area creeks, lakes and reservoirs during the weekend. Localized flooding may occur in low-lying areas. Residents in these areas should prepare to protect their property from flood waters.

The public is also reminded that the remaining ice cover is poor, and water is cold and fast moving. Activity near waterbodies should be avoided.

The CRCA jurisdiction extends from Napanee to Brockville and north to Newboro.

Further updates to watershed conditions will be issued as required, based on weather forecasts and watershed conditions.
