CRCA Ends Flood Advisory

Kingston - Rain amounts received in the region on Monday March 31 and April 1, 2008, were much lower than forecast at the end of last week. This has led to snowmelt that was significantly less than predicted values. As a result, the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority is ending its flood advisory for its jurisdiction.

The Environment Canada forecast for the region currently calls for conditions that will result in a continued gradual melt of the region's snow. Should the currently forecast conditions occur, riverine and shoreline flooding is not anticipated over the next week.

Nevertheless, the public is reminded that the remaining ice cover is variable, and water is cold and fast moving. Activity near waterbodies should be avoided.

The CRCA jurisdiction extends from Napanee to Brockville and north to Newboro.

Further updates to watershed conditions will be issued as required, based on weather forecasts and watershed conditions.
