Kingston - The board of the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) will express formal gratitude to the Davies Charitable Foundation for a $15,000 grant at the conservation authority's first board meeting in 2007.
"This grant money from The Davies Charitable Foundation will be used to buy new skis, boots and bindings; snowshoes and skates for use by school children and other members of the public," says CRCA General Manager Steve Knechtel. "This equipment is invaluable to the outdoor education program because it enables students to visit nature in winter."
The Davies Charitable Foundation was founded in 1990 by Michael R. Davies, former owner and publisher of the Kingston Whig-Standard. The foundation's purpose is to support individuals and organizations within the district in the areas of arts, education, health and sports. Since its inception, The Davies Charitable Foundation has donated more than $6.6 million to more than 400 individuals and institutions.
