Cataraqui Conservation Foundation seeks names
for its 2010 conservation awards
Kingston - The Cataraqui Conservation Foundation is seeking nominations for five conservation awards.
"These are the citizenship award, the stewardship award, the community award, the education award and the corporate award," says Foundation President Michael Bell.
The organization raises funds for land acquisition and outdoor education for the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA).
"This year the number of awards has been increased to recognize more individuals or groups making significant contributions to conservation," says Mr. Bell.
- The citizenship award honours someone who has made important efforts to improve the natural environment in the region.
- The stewardship award honours a landowner whose property within the Cataraqui watershed demonstrates excellent stewardship of the natural environment.
- The community award honours a community organization, institution or business that has advanced the understanding of the interdependence of all life in the region and has actively promoted the protection of the natural environment.
- The education award honours a person, group or school that has promoted a better understanding of conservation in the region's watersheds.
- The corporate award honours a corporation or a municipality that has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the protection and improvement of the natural environment in the region's watersheds.
- To nominate an individual, group or organization, complete the nomination form on the CRCA website at www.cataraquiregion.on.ca/foundation/award/htm or pick up a form at the CRCA's administration office at 1641 Perth Road. Nominations close March 1; the awards will be presented April 22.
