Educational Programs
The CRCA offers curriculum-based conservation education programs for students from Kindergarten and up. These programs are offered at Outdoor Centre at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area in Kingston and at the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville. Each year 5,000 to 6,000 students participate in our programs. At Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area we offer programs for adults, as well as day care centres and nursery schools. We also offer P.A. Day programs for ages 6 to 11. Click here for the registration forms. Teachers are also encouraged to do their own programs on Authority lands. CRCA staff provide them with instruction, maps and technical advice to help them get started. The Limestone District Board of Education operates its own outdoor learning centre at the Gould Lake Conservation Area. In 1994, we began offering weekend and evening programs for the public at the Outdoor Centre. These include programs on everything from gardening to birdwatching to nature photography. These programs are delivered by CRCA staff, guest speakers and community groups such as the Kingston Field Naturalists. A summer day camp for
school-aged children has also been operated at Little
Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area since 1993.
